Weekly Sports Report - October #2

Posted on 14/10/2016

It has been an extremely busy week full of fixtures and we would like to thank all pupils that have taken part and families for supporting us, it is much appreciated

PEDSSA Cross Country
Our second cross-country event in the PEDSSA League was at the picturesque surroundings of Sandbanks. This race is notorious for its difficulty and this year it was no different with a strong wind to add to the strenuous work that is required running on the sand. I am delighted that all of our 48 pupils completed the race, where we had the largest representation from any school. Barney and Elyjah should be congratulated for top 15 finishes.

Year 6 Tag Rugby
Our Year 6 pupils participated in the East Dorset School Games Tag Rugby Competition kindly hosted by Wimborne Rugby Club. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon where we won one, drew two and lost one out of the four matches.

Year 6 Boys Football
In our second match of the season we played St Michaels in an entertaining match. We lead at half time 1-0 with a great goal from Tyler. We nearly scored more but their keeper pulled off some brilliant saves. In the second half St Michaels got in their stride and equalised and then scored 2 goals to win 3-1. It was a great game and on another day we certainly could have come away with the points.

Year 5 and 6 Girls Football
A huge well done to our year 5 and 6 girl’s football team who took part in the first tournament of the year on Tuesday 11th October. With so many keen footballers in years 5 and 6 we were able to enter two fantastic teams into the tournament.  Ferndown B  reached the final in their group and consequently took second place, whilst Ferndown A finished 5th in their group. Praise must go to all of the girls involved who put in a tremendous amount of effort throughout the tournament. Well done girls!

A reminder that all girls in year 5 and 6 are invited to join football club at lunch times on Mondays with Mr Keegan. Eat first lunch and then meet at the gate to the field.
