Weekly Sports Report - December #1

Posted on 08/12/2016

Poole and East Dorset Cross-Country
In the final Poole and East Dorset Cross-Country event we travelled across the field to Ferndown Upper School where we took 49 pupils. In surprisingly mild December conditions all pupils worked extremely hard and plenty of them produced personal best results. Top ten finishes went to Ryan, Hannah and Finn. It was pleasing to see so many pupils race for the first time this year and their efforts were appreciated.Inter-form Sports Competition
It was great to hold our annual winter inter-form earlier this week which sees all tutor groups compete against each other in Netball, Football and Boccia. A huge thank you to our sports leaders for supporting all years and refereeing the competition and Mrs Turner for coordinating the competition. It was a close run competition and the results are in… but you’ll have to wait until the last day of term!

Year 6 Boys v Emmanuel
Our boys played Emmanuel on a cold Friday afternoon and showed excellent character in coming back from 3-1 down to eventually draw 4-4. Our goals were scored by George (2) and Jack (2). This come back was thoroughly pleasing as the boys did not drop their heads and pushed themselves to the limit.

Year 6 Boys County 7 Aside Finals at Littledown
The 7 side county finals were hosted at Littledown where we played 4 tough group matches. We won one and lost three and unfortunately did not make it through to the semi-finals. It was pleasing to see the boys play the game in the correct spirit where they were always trying to pass the ball to each other and on another day the luck may have gone their way. They should be proud of their achievement in qualifying for these finals.

Year 7 Boys County Cup v Bourne Academy
The Year 7 Boys progressed to the Quarter Finals of the County Cup where they beat Bourne Academy 6-2. We started brilliantly with 2 headed goals from Connor and he completed his hat trick just before half time. In the second half it was Alfie’s turn to score a hat trick. An excellent team performance in a tough away fixture. Well played lads!
