Under 12 National Cup Quarter Final v Cranborne
In the English Schools FA National Cup we were drawn against our close friends from Cranborne Middle in the quarter finals. This was always going to be a tough match and we had to be switched on from the start if we wanted to stand any chance of progression to semi-finals. Harry made a fantastic fingertip save early on and we had to defend some dangerous long balls that were delivered with accuracy. We succumbed to one of these deliveries and they went ahead with a great headed goal. We struggled to get into our stride and I was fearful a second would soon follow. We soon created some opportunities and some quick one touch passing released Harrison and he calmly score the equaliser just before half time. This settled us and we were transformed in the second half. Alfie rifled home 30 yard ‘screamer’ into the top corner and Harrison quickly added a third. We conceded a second and nearly allowed Cranborne back into the match. Harrison completed his hat trick and Alfie fired home a penalty to give us an impressive 5-2 victory. Reaching the semi-finals of any competition is pleasing but to reach the last four nationally is a superb achievement and we will be doing our very best to try and reach the final. I congratulate Cranborne in reaching the last eight of the National Cup two and this is a superb advert for Poole and East Dorset Football and in particular Middle School Football. Brilliant performance lads!

Under 12 County Cup Cricket v Bournemouth School for Boys
The Under 12’s had a thoroughly tough fixture being drawn away to Bournemouth School for Boys. BSB batted first and scored 120 runs in their allotted overs. Here I was happy with our fielding because we bowled superbly well and made some great boundary saving blocks. Connor took a brilliant catch and the spirits of the team were buoyant in the quest to chase down the total. After their first bowler bowled what seemed 100 mile an hour deliveries I was worried for our batters. However I should not have worried because we batted superbly. We blocked the balls we needed to and certainly did not give our wickets away. Kristian supported Will brilliantly and hit a brilliant four. However Will batted excellently where he saw off their pacey bowlers and then hit some majestic shots all around the ground. He eventually fell for 60 in the last over and we managed to score 85 runs that on another day would have been enough for a victory. I was absolutely proud of the efforts of our lads and again in which the spirit the game was played.

Year 7 and 8 County Cup Cricket v St Osmunds
We hosted St Osmunds in our in the Under 13 County Cup. We batted extremely sensibly in our innings where Connor and Will were knocking some lovely shots around the pitch. We defended the correct balls and exploited the loose deliveries where we scored freely. We ended up with 58 runs, which I thought was a competitive score.

Will top scored with 30 runs in an impressive display. St Osmunds batted well to start off with but we managed to stifle them with accurate bowling from the Wills, Kristian and Nathan, as well as safe wicket keeping from Barney. Connor and Will produced extraordinary catches from their own bowling where they dived to take one hand catches from solid shots. The match got extremely tight and St Osmunds eventually won by one run in the final over of the match. This was what school cricket should be all about where all pupils demonstrated superb sporting behaviours and competed to the very end.
