Ferndown Middle School students had the pleasure of getting involved in Chartwell’s “On your marks, get set, cook” event, run by James Plumridge. The Professional cooking show was hugely popular with KS2 and 3 students who fully embraced the fun and interesting session led by James. Students were asked questions about healthy balanced diets and the Eatwell guide. Students then had the chance to cook a professional meal in Chartwell’s cooking pods, all in 15 minutes with the support of 2 staff celebrity chefs.
The meals were incredibly healthy, balanced and appealing. Students worked as a team, using the professional appliances provided by Chartwells and techniques practiced in lessons, to present their food to student and staff tasters. The winning teams were chosen by students based on taste and also team work. James brought the sessions to life with music and information relevant to the students lives, making healthy eating fun and exciting. Ferndown Middle school would like to thank James and Chartwells for the experience and look forward to many more events.
