FMS Run for Sport Relief

Posted on 26/03/2018

A huge thank you and well done to everyone who has support Sport Relief this week. A tremendous team effort has been made by all members of our school community and it has been a pleasure to see everyone come together for this worthy cause.

Over the course of the week, students have been ‘stepping it up for Sport Relief’ as part of the nation’s challenge to walk 1 billion steps per day. Students have been out running the daily mile every break time, as well as starting each of their PE lessons with 15 minutes of golden running time. To top it off, our students also donated £1 to the sport relief charity as part of non-uniform day.

The school has managed to raise a whopping £473 and run a staggering 1661 miles. This has enabled us to meet our target of running to all of the destinations that will be visited this year as part of Project Week. This is a huge achievement and demonstrates the power of sport, showing what can be done when people come together and unite as a team.

The PE department would like to say thank you to each and every person who has so willingly taken part in the challenge this week. It has been genuinely inspiring to see the students pledge their time and effort to the cause. A special mention must go to our wonderful sports leaders for helping to organise and run the challenge. Prizes will be awarded next week to the individuals and tutor groups who managed to run the furthest!
