On Wednesday 10th May, 12 year 8 pupils travelled to St Mary’s CE Middle School to take part in the Faraday Challenge Day. The competition was one of 150 events taking part all over the country and involving thousands of year 8 pupils working on a real design brief.
The pupils were given a design task on the day which involved creating an attraction for younger visitors to Thorpe Park. This was a real design brief created by Thorpe Park and required some complex problem solving, creativity and teamwork. The pupils then had to present their design to the judges and the other groups in an ‘Apprentice style’ pitch.
The pupils were a credit to the school and their solutions were very creative. In the end there was only 6 points between the teams and our teams narrowly missed out to a team from St Mary’s Middle School.
Congratulations to the year 8 pupils involved.
