Cherry Bear Cheers On Daily Mile
On Friday 2nd November our second guest runner visited Ferndown Middle School to support our staff and students with The Daily Mile. The children were thrilled to be able to welcome the AFC Bournemouth club mascot, Cherry Bear, who encouraged our runners as they completed their 1/2 mile laps.

We would like to thank Cherry Bear for pledging his time to what we feel is such a worthwhile daily activity. It is wonderful to see our students gaining confidence in their own running ability and to hear of the many success stories across the school, from both staff and students, who are starting to find running easier and more enjoyable. Keep going everyone!

Year 6 Football Fixture v Cranborne School (3-2 to Cranborne)
On a Cold Tuesday evening our Year 6 football Team played Cranborne School. The warm ups were professional and involved a huge amount of pulse raising exercises to get the boys started for a big game and keep them warm. Kick off was underway and Cranborne led a strong and powerful attack. The boys held down the strong attack for a period of time, but the number 10 slipped through the defence and slotted it past the keeper into the bottom right corner of the net. Then Ferndown Middle battled hard with keeping in formation and playing some good and creative football. One pass ended up to Josh’s feet who beat both defenders for pace and hit the ball sweetly to end up in the top right corner of the net. Brilliant Finish. After this Cranborne were too much for Ferndown Middle making constant shots on target, which led to one of our defenders accidently getting his hand in the way in the penalty box. Cranborne were awarded a penalty and with great composure beat the keeper to score. This led Cranborne to take the score 2-1.

Ferndown bounced back in the second half to level the score 2-2 with a great header inside the box. Cranborne replied again with a heavy attack to slot the ball past the keeper inside the penalty area to beat Ferndown 3-2. Fantastic performance from both sides and great sportsmanship was shown throughout.

Year 7 Football Fixture v Poole Grammar School (4-0 Poole Grammar)
Poole Grammar proved to be a very strong and competitive side showing some great football with passes, defending and organisation. They had a Barcelona-esk style to them proving it difficult for Ferndown to defend. However, the boys battled hard putting Poole, at times, under pressure and creating chances. The boys showed great determination and never gave up throughout the whole match. Brilliant encouragement from all the players from both sides. Well done to Poole!
