Year 6 Boys East Dorset 7 Aside Football Championship
Ferndown hosted the East Dorset Championship where 7 other schools attended in a fabulous afternoon of football. We drew our first two matches against Emmanuel and St Ives and needed to beat Cranborne in the final match to have a chance of progressing to the semi-finals. In this match we got in our stride and won 4-0 and managed to win our group. We played Lockyers in the semi-final and a tense match after extra time ended 0-0. The excitement of penalties awaited both teams. After the first 5 penalties it ended 4-4 and it went to sudden death. Luckily we held our nerve and won 5-4 after 7 penalties and made it to the final against St Michaels. In this match we ran out of steam and lost 3-1 but the boys showed great courage and sportsmanship throughout. I am delighted to say that as a result of getting through to the final we have qualified for the Dorset Schools Finals and the boys should be proud of such a positive afternoon.
Year 7 Boys County Cup v Arnewood
In the first round our boys got off to a tremendous start with a convincing 6-0 win. In a fast flowing first half we raced into a 5-0 lead and produced some magnificent football. It was pleasing to see the lads pass and move so easily and we thoroughly deserved our win. Goals from Alfie (3), Josh, Wesley and Connor ensured our victory but I must pass on praise to a solid performance from George in defence where he was superb all afternoon.
Year 8 Boys County Cup v Bournemouth Collegiate
Unfortunately we lost in the first round to a strong team from Bournemouth Collegiate. We battled all afternoon but they were too strong for us. Praise must be given to Charlie, Josh, Busta and Jack with committed performances. Finally Connor scored a great goal direct from a corner. Keep working hard lads and the success will soon follow.
