Today’s lessons were quite literally ‘out of this world.’ Ferndown students today had the opportunity to become part of the Google Expeditions Pioneer Program and don virtual reality headsets, transporting them to different locations around earth and in our solar system. I had the privilege of teaching 10 of the 20 sessions which ensured all children had the opportunity to experience virtual reality and how this technology can really bring a lesson to life. Whether it was experiencing life on the international space station, putting our planets in perspective or focussing on how plants have adapted to life in the Borneo rainforest, all the children were amazed at what they saw. Awe and wonder is such an important part of inspiring learners and we hope today’s chorus of “Wow!” and “Amazing!” did just that.
