World book Day
After listening to Mrs. Nice’s special World Book Day assembly it was time to appreciate how lucky we are to have our very own fantastic school library at Ferndown Middle School. We have so many books to choose from, and now even more since the success of our Travelling Book Fair! After book quizzes, bookmark competitions, and raffle tickets for ‘ getting caught reading’ it was time to jump into the Library photo booth, don the Crazy Willy Wonka hat and show our best smiley faces to promote our love of reading. If you haven’t already used your special World Book Day token at the Book Fair, don’t forget that they are valid until 26th March 2017: all you need to do is to take it to your local bookseller or supermarket and swap it for one of the TEN ( exclusive, new and completely free) World Book Day mini books! Or, if you’d prefer, you can use your token to get £1 off any full price book ( over £2.99 ) instead! Whatever you decide – Keep Reading!
Year 6 Book Review Podcasts
The pupils in Mrs Brazier’s year 6 English combined literacy with their computing skills to create podcasts all about their favourite books.
They wrote scripts to review the books and then practised them before recording using Audacity software. After several takes, the children then kept their best recording – some pupils were able to add music and sound effects too.
We hope you enjoy listening to the podcasts and maybe they will help you decide on which book to read next!
