Yr 8 Football Success
The Year 8 football team continued their impressive run of form with a 5-0 victory over Broadstone Middle school this week. Although Ferndown were dominant in possession, they were finding it very hard to break down an organised and committed Broadstone defence. After a number of missed opportunities, Ferndown finally broke the deadlock five minutes before half time. The goal gave Ferndown confidence and after the break they took total control of the game scoring four time. Ferndown progress onto the next round.

Yr 7 Football Triumph
The Year 7 football team beat St Edwards 1-0 in an extra time epic to progress onto the next round. Both teams played really well throughout in a really close encounter. A number of fine saves and strong defending meant that both teams finished the game scoreless. It took a first half extra time goal to separate the teams, when a strong attack from Ferndown resulted in the St Edwards keeper pushing the ball into the path of the on running striker to open the scoring. St Edwards threw everything at Ferndown in the second half, but some resolute defending and a touch of good fortunate saw Ferndown eventually win the encounter 1-0.

Swimming Gala
Congratulations to the 11 girls who took part in the netball tournament yesterday. It was a difficult day with some unfortunate weather but the girls still showed a huge amount of effort and worked superbly as a team. They competed against 5 other schools and finished in 5th place. Well done girls! You did the school proud.

Congratulations and my thanks to all the swimmers for representing their school, with enthusiasm, cheerfulness and support for each other. There was tough competition from teams that included many children who train with Swim Bournemouth, so I am very proud of our less experienced swimmers for giving their best effort and showing good sportsmanship.

My thanks also go to Mrs Candy for being Team Manager at the event, allowing me to time keep and assist the children at the start of the races.

Girls Indoor Cricket
Ferndown Middle played Swanage School in the first round of the U13 Indoor Cricket Competition this week. The game was played at the Dorset Indoor Cricket Centre, Hurn. Swanage won the toss and put Ferndown into bat. Ferndown batted well, but a strong field from Swanage limited them to a score of 63 from 12 overs. Although Ferndown took a few early wickets and bowled well throughout, Swanage surpassed the 63 Ferndown score with two overs to spare and eventually won by 12runs.
