Last year, the Sky Sports Living for Sport Project was launched at Ferndown Middle School and involved a number of students from across all four year groups. The project aimed to use sport to improve confidence, self-esteem and engagement in Phsyical Education. Over the course of the year those involved attended the weekly club , welcomed Brtitish athlete Serita Shone in on two occasions, represented the school in two Orienteering competitions and organised and ran a sporting event for students from Parley First School.
The project was a huge success and was consequently nominated for the Sky Sports Project of the Year Award by our athlete mentor Serita Shone. The nomination itself was a huge achievement for all involved and although not successful on this occasion, we can be proud of the recognition we have been shown.
The Sky Sports Living for Sport Programme Manager, Shaun Marsden-Heathcote, had these kind words to say about FMS
“The quality of your work and impact that this is having in your school is really shown in your submitted nomination and the fact that one of our athlete mentors nominated you for the award should make you feel extremely proud of the work that you are doing”.
Well done and thank you to all those involved
