This term a group of Year 8 were fortunate to have the opportunity to work with final year Product Design students from Bournemouth University and the Dyson Foundation during their Design and Technology lesson. The pupils were given a two hour challenge to design and build a prototype model in teams. The design brief was to create a household item that uses air. The pupils then built a prototype model of their design using genuine Dyson parts and lots of sticky tape! At the end of the challenge the pupils then had to present their ideas to the group ‘Dragon’s Den’ style.
Excellent team work, creativity and imagination was displayed by all the pupils with some really imaginative outcomes from a hover board vacuum cleaner to a multi-functional hairdryer. The challenge will continue next term. Watch this space!
