Weekly Sports Report - April #1

Year 6 Boys Cricket
Our Year 6 boys had a tough opening round match in the Hardball Competition where we visited Castle Court. Unfortunately they were the stronger side and defeated us but for 7 of the 8 lads it was their first experience of hardball cricket and an experience they should use for the future. Will captained the side extremely well and encouraged the boys all through the match. Finally we would like to thanks Castle Court for the hospitality at the end, where the boys thoroughly enjoyed their cookies and cake!

Boys Cricket
Our Boys Indoor team qualified for the South West Regional Finals as Dorset County Champions and played schools from Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. We had an early start as we left school for Chippenham Dome at 7:30 am. Our boys were a credit to the school and the county where we won 1 and lost 2 and finished in 3rd place overall. A fantastic achievement and very well done lads!

April Sports Report 29.04.16 1Year 5 Swimming Gala
Kaysea and Thomas entered the School games Swimming Gala and I am delighted to announce that they brought back some medals for their performance. Kaysea won the silver medal and not to be outdone Thomas won a gold and a silver. A huge congratulations – we are all very proud of you!

Year 8 Mixed Rounders
On Tuesday our year 8 mixed rounders team played their first game of the season against Lytchett. The team opted to bat first, reaching a total of 3 1/2 rounders. They then took to the field, showing excellent discipline and focus. As a result, Lytchett also scored just 3 1/2 rounders, taking the result to a draw. The team have shown tremendous commitment in training so far and I don’t doubt that they will go from strength to strength as the season continues. Well done to all of the students involved!

Year 6 Tag Rugby
Our Year 6 mixed team represented East Dorset (as we won the championship earlier in the school year) in the Dorset School Games Finals. We did fantastically well and went unbeaten all day and narrowly missed out on entering the winners pool on points difference. In the end we were victorious in the plate competition where we brought back the shield. The pupils should be very proud of their achievement.

Year 8 Girls Football
In the final football for the year our Year 8 Girls attended the Dorset School Games finals at Redlands in Weymouth. Playing in the county finals is a massive achievement and going unbeaten all day in seven games another achievement. Overall the girls finished 5th out of the whole county and that is something to be proud of.
