London 2019

Posted on 04/06/2019

On Tuesday we set off for London. The coach was modern and clean and everyone settled down for the journey. We knew that we were really in London as we spotted the London Eye. The journey went well and we arrived at HMS Belfast on time. The ship is only one of three of it’s type left, the other two are in America. She played a very important role in D Day and with the 75th anniversary of this event made our visit even more special.

We checked in at the Royal National Hotel in Russell Square and had 20 minutes to unpack (or tip out our suitcases) before we were out again for our meal at Garfunkel’s in Leicester Square.

The show this evening was the Lion King. It was a roaring success and we had excellent seats, Wow! What a show.  It was a short walk back to our hotel and a well-deserved rest.

On the second day, another pleasant summers day, we were up early and having breakfast at 7.30am. We arrived at the London Dungeons and were split into two groups. One group did a Design and Technology workshop where they planned a new exhibit/experience for the Dungeon’s while the second group set off on their tour of the Dungeons……..It was funny, scary, dark and smelly but we had a great time.  The first group then took the tour while the second group did the workshop.

From the Dungeons we took a boat trip to the Tower of London. The trip took about 30 minutes and we had our packed lunch on the boat while we travelled up the Thames and looked at the famous landmarks and were entertained by a live commentary.

We met the coach at The Tower of London which took us to the Rainforest Café for our evening meal. It was a strange experience eating in a rainforest in the centre of London!

The show tonight was Matilda. A truly magical show, and even though we were all tired there was no way we were going to sleep through this! After Matilda we walked back to our hotel and straight to bed!

It was a little more difficult getting up today! We were off to LEGOLAND for the final day of our trip.

When we arrived we were put into two groups and given our time for the Robotics workshop. We were then able to visit the rides and attractions in the park. The weather was just right. We met for lunch in Miniature Land where we could see all the famous land marks of London made from Lego. We finally met up again to watch the live action stunt show and then make our way back to the coach.

After a full day in LEGOLAND we set off for home, tired but with many fantastic memories.

They were an excellent group and a credit to Ferndown Middle School.

We did so much in just 42 hours!
