Year 5 and year 7 participated in a science enrichment activity on Monday 1st July 2019. The aim of the session is to ensure that the students feel challenged and engaged whilst extending their scientific investigative skills.
Ferndown Upper school staff and year 9 pupils brought their skills and expertise to us and worked in collaboration with us to investigate the science of rockets.
Year 7 investigated how changing the amount of water or changing the angle of projection affected the distance a rocket would fly. The winning team were very close to hitting the target.
Year 5 investigated how changing the shape affects the distance an air powered rocket will fly. The winning pupils applied their understanding and scientific principles to create a rockets that flew over 6m.
