Welcome to Ferndown Middle School. This website will provide information about the school, however a visit is the best way to begin to understand the positive and nurturing ethos embedded across the school.
Ferndown Middle is uniquely placed to meet the needs of children through a time of considerable and wide ranging intellectual, physical and emotional development between the ages of 9-13 years. We are a highly successful school with a real sense of community. I am very proud to be the headteacher of a lively and happy place providing a high standard of education as well as extensive opportunities for all children to engage in. By fostering the important values of community and celebrating diversity, we provide a secure basis for children’s education, ensuring that children of all abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to pursue excellence in all aspects of school life. Throughout their schooling children need to feel safe, both physically and emotionally, before they can begin to develop intellectually. Ferndown Middle School fosters a school climate that nurtures and supports children. All staff are committed to the development of their teaching and have high expectations for learning, achievement and personal development. Independence is encouraged and resilience and resourcefulness are recognised as key learning attitudes.
A broad, balanced and carefully planned curriculum is securely in place and through extensive work with our First Schools and the Upper School, children experience a smooth transition between schools.
Visits to the school are welcome. Contact the school office for further information.
