Weekly Sports Report - March #3

Year 7 & 8 Girls Indoor Cricket
Our Year 7 & 8 Girls played their County Finals at Canford School. We started fantastically well, where we scored 113 runs against Twynham and beat them to get to the semi finals. We played Parkstone Grammar and bowled them out for 44 runs. This was an excellent fielding performance but we unfortunately lost by 2 runs in the end. Overall our girls finished 4th out of 28 teams in the county and I am sure you will agree that we should be very proud of them.

Year 8 Girls Semi Final
Our Year 8 Girls played St Michaels in a closely matched semi-final of the PEDSSA Cup. We took an early lead through a well worked corner where Olivia passed to Laura who passed to Abbie to finish neatly. We held on to just before half time, where super defending from Jasmine helped keep them away but unfortunately conceded before the break. In the second half we pressed and pressed but just couldn’t score and St Michaels scored a winner 2 minutes from the end. I couldn’t have been more proud of the girls and on another day we would be the ones looking forward to a final.

Year 8 Boys Semi-Final
Our Year Boys played their semi-final away to Poole Grammar and unfortunately the occasion got the better of them where we found ourselves 2-0 down. After regrouping at half time we managed to transform our play and pulled a goal back and the comeback was on. We pushed all the way and had to try to get the equaliser but unfortunately in our attacking we left ourselves exposed to the counter attack and lost 4-1. Our boys have had an excellent season and should be proud of the successes they have had and were extremely unlucky in not reaching the final.

Year 7 Boys Quarter Final
The Year 7 boys played Allenbourn in an excellent match which could have gone either way. We lost 3-2 but the standard of our passing was fantastic and the positive attitude meant that it was a pleasure to watch them play. Unlucky lads in closely contested match.
