Art
“Creative people are curious, flexible, persistent and independent, with a tremendous spirit of adventure and a love of play.” – Henri Matisse.
Art is essential for the rounded education we want every child to experience. Ferndown Middle School recognises this and ensures all pupils will have the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence to express their own thoughts and feelings through art. We use a wide range of media to produced 3D sculptures, printmaking, drawings and paintings. Most importantly, however, children will also develop an appreciation for the art of other people, cultures and eras. Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in maths, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Ferndown Middle School actively encourages students of all abilities to participate in Art and fulfil their potential to design, create and produce Art of the highest standard. Academic ability is no boundary where Art is concerned; only a fervent imagination is required.
