Yesterday, you would have been mistaken for thinking you had arrived in ancient Athens rather than Year 5, as we launched into our theme for this term – The Ancient Greeks.
With our chiton (boys tunics) and peplos (girls dresses) on, everyone looked amazing.
We had a very special guest for the day – Ben, from Treehouse Theatre, – who explained that we would be learning and performing a play in four acts. One for each group.
Ben’s directions and instructions were really clear and so, by lunchtime, we had created an entire play.
After lunch and a quick voice warm up, we were ready to perform.
Everyone did their part superbly and the story of Alcibiades had us all on the edge of our seats (well, gym mats).
It was a truly wonderful day which will be fondly remembered for a long time. We also learnt a huge amount about Ancient Greece which will be really useful over the next term.
