Cross Country – Canford School Thursday 19th September 2019
Twelve Ferndown Middle School students took part in the first cross country event at Canford School on Thursday 19th September 2019. The weather was great for the event and this provided optimal conditions for running. All of Ferndown Middle School students who took part in the event competed tremendously giving 100% in the race. One Year 7 finished 4th in their discipline out of 40 that took part, which was a great achievement. It was a fantastic event and all of the students represented Ferndown Middle School in the highest regard.

Year 8 PEDSSA Football Cup vs Highcliffe School Tuesday 1st October 2019
A squad of 13 year 8 footballers competed in the 11 a side match against Highcliffe School. The match was 25 minutes a half and if a draw occurred it would go to penalties. However, Highcliffe proved to be a dominate and strong side scoring 5 goals in the first half with our defence working tremendously hard to withstand the powerful attack. At halftime the boys showed positive attitude in the halftime talk and were motivated to put on a better performance in the second half.

On the whistle to start the second half Ferndown Middle School displayed this behaviour and courage to try and bring back the game with a great counter attack from the wingers. However, when the ball got crossed in we couldn’t find the header of our striker and we were denied the first goal. Highcliffe proved still to be a strong side with a great attack that led to a ball to be delivered 5 yards from the penalty box and the player strike the ball cleanly to finish in the top right corner of the goal. Great goal from the Highcliffe player. Our year 8’s showed great discipline in the second half to limit just three goals from Highcliffe to finish the game 8-0. Overall, despite the loss the boys showed great character throughout, considering this was their first game. They now enter the plate rounds where they look to bounce back with a win. Ferndown Middle School wish Highcliffe the best of luck for the remainder of the cup matches.
