October Sports Update #3

Year 8 Girls Football
On Tuesday 22nd October our year 8 girls football team faced Cranborne in the County Cup in what was an enthralling encounter. Cranborne got off to a flying start meaning Ferndown quickly found themselves two goals to nil down. However, our girls were undeterred and demonstrated exactly what it means to play as a team – encouraging and supporting one another throughout every moment of the game.
It wasn’t long before Ferndown found themselves well and truly back in the game. Outstanding goals from Aimee and Lily saw them going into half time with a 4-2 lead!
The second half was equally as exciting as the first, with Cranborne staging a comeback to take it to 6-5. However, a last ditch tackle from Bethany denied Cranborne and equaliser, ensuring Ferndown went home with a 6-5 victory.
It really was a fantastic spectacle from start to finish and the girls can be so proud of the effort and determination they put into winning their first game together. A big thank you must go to those family members that made it along to support.
Daily Mile Guest Runners
On Tuesday 22nd October we welcomed our first daily mile guest runners of the year. Lifeguards from the RNLI visited us to deliver a workshop with some very fortunate year 7 students. They found out about the first aid provisions that lifeguards are trained to use and also had an opportunity to ask questions. The lifeguards then joined our year 7 and 8 students out on the daily mile, inspiring them to run as many laps as possible. A big thank you to Mr Kinsey for organising this fantastic event and of course to our visitors for giving up their time. It was a privilege to welcome these brilliant role models to FMS.
