The Year 7 Moustache Challenge

To celebrate the month of Movember, the Year 7 tutor groups were set the challenge of designing a large moustache for the class room wall. As well as being great fun to make, the pupils were developing some of the key employability skills that employers look for: mainly team-work and creativity in this project.
The pupils came up with some fabulous ideas as you can see from the photos. Mr Darch (Assistant Headteacher) was given the tough job of deciding upon a winner.
Here are his findings:
7BK – Lovely display with backdrop which set the moustache off beautifully – very imaginative and lots of work has gone into this.
7EB – Lovely looking moustache with a nice texture and a bit of colour. The face covering added a touch of humour.
7LM – A marvellous display with lots of individual moustaches’ set off by Christmas decorations and other related items – a real ‘display’.
7DK – Lovely pictures of the children all with moustaches on, including Mr Kinsey (of course) and Ms Rothwell! Very imaginative and made me smile.
7TW – Different cut out shapes on one large droopy moustache – really good class participation.
It was a difficult decision to make as Mr Darch really liked 7EB as this was the most realistic, but he also really liked the display in 7BK and the humour of 7DK.
We were impressed with the way the tutor groups pulled together to reach the goal. However, there could be only one winner…
