Year 8 Ancient Rabari Dowry Bags
Posted on 14/12/2020
8PM have been looking at the cultural changes due to globalisation affecting the ancient Rabari tribe, from Kutch in Gujurat. They have understood that the Rabari embroider what they see around them and use their own specific embroidery style to create a code, within their embroidery.
Students have created their own codes, based on what they see around them in their everyday lives. They have added this to the bags and pompoms to create an authentic look. Students then used blanket stitch to finish the edge of their work. Some even added tassels and cords, with which to tie the bags.
The results are quite striking.
Well done 8PM.
