Daisy's Delightful Art

Posted on 23/02/2021

Daisy, in 7LM, has been busy this half term practising her art skills. This is what she has to say:

‘There are many things that inspire me to start drawing. One of which is my sister, who is really good at art. I want to be just like her. But, I also feel really happy and relaxed when I do art. I used a pencil and coloured pencils while creating my drawings. I also found that you don’t need any fancy equipment to do really amazing drawings, although it would make it look a little more professional. When I did my drawings, I used only one pencil and it worked fine for me. At first, when I finished my drawings, I would always hate them, but it seems to me that when a couple of hours or maybe even a day pass, I feel much better about my drawing and I feel quite proud of it. I never really time my drawings, but when I paint, I seem to finish them quicker. Whereas, when I use pencil (as in when I’m drawing), it usually takes me from two to three hours, to a day and a bit. Art has helped me over lockdown because it generally calms me, as well as giving me a bit of time to zone out and not think about what is happening in the world. Some advice I would give to other people drawing during lockdown would be to never judge your work when it is not finished and to never give up on your work because there is always a way of salvaging it.’

The determination and perseverance that Daisy has shown is outstanding and it is great to hear that art has helped her during this challenging time. I congratulate her for her hard work and effort. The main thing to remember is that you aren’t born good at art, it tasks lots of patience, practise and perseverance.
