For the last 5 weeks in Art, Year 5 have been experimenting with a range of media to practise their blending, sketching, symmetry and use of tone/colour to create accurate form and shape. The children thoroughly enjoyed the theme around ‘insects’ and have found inspiration from artists such as Jennifer Angus, who uses insects to create abstract artwork.
Here are some fantastic examples of their final pieces, where they have combined two different techniques: glue resist and pastel blending. Using their knowledge of the analogous colour chart, the children loved experimenting (getting messy) with the pastels and glue.
