Sports Day at Ferndown Middle School commenced on Thursday the 24th June 2021. After the year we have all had, it was great to see the whole school come together and celebrate the student’s sporting achievements.
The sun was shining, music was playing and gazebos were decorated in the school house colours ready for a day of athletics. Year 5 were first to compete in their track and field events, followed by Year 6, 7 and 8. There were varied activities for the children to be involved in, which the students got to pick themselves, including skipping, egg and spoon, relays, sprints, team runs, long jump, shot put and javelin.
Whilst the whole school could not spend the day on the field, all students clubbed together as a year group and there was a real sense of sportsmanship and comradery throughout the day. There was cheering at every event, as the students watched their fellow year group members compete in their events.
We hope all students thoroughly enjoyed the day and it has been amazing to see their progress throughout the summer term.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the children for putting in lots of effort. Thank you to the Year 7 and 8 helpers, some of whom came in super early to set-up. Thank you to Mr Nesbitt for being a wonderful ‘MC’. A big thanks to staff for setting up, pulling down and for cheering everyone on! Finally, from all the students and staff, we would like to say a big thank you to the PE TEAM for organising and running the day!
